50 Cent Tells Gays To Commit Suicide

50 Cent Tells Gays To Commit Suicide

50 Cent, also known as Curtis James Jackson III, has taken his homophobic opinions, usually found on stage and screen, to cyberspace again in a recent tweet. The rapper, actor and Vitamin Water spokesman wrote: “If you a man and your over 25 and you don’t eat pu**y just kill your self damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol.” 50 Cent tweeted the anti-gay remark from his Blackberry using ÜberTwitter on Wednesday 9/29/2010 to his 3.3 million followers.Fenuxe Magazine Gay Magazine Atlanta 50 Cent Anti-Gay Twitter
The tweet was written while America learns more about the tragic death of
Rutgers University freshman Tyler Clementi. Clementi’s body was found in the Hudson River. The New York City medical examiner confirmed Clementi committed suicide. Clementi’s suicide followed gross invasions of his privacy by his roommate Dharun Ravi and fellow student Molly Wei. Both Ravi and Wei have been charged with invading Clementi’s privacy. According to prosecutors Ravi and Wei used a web cam to broadcast Clementi and another young man engaging in romantic conduct without Clementi’s knowledge. Currently, it is believed that Clementi committed suicide by jumping from the George Washington Bridge because of harassment he received after his romantic encounter was broadcast on iChat.

It is unclear if 50 Cent was making light of the death of Tyler Clementi, responding to news coverage of recent LGBT youth suicides or simply tweeting without thinking. 50 Cent attempted to clarify his pro-suicide statement with a subsequent series of equally eloquent tweets.

In his follow-up tweets we learn that 50 Cent believes he is not anti-gay. As proof he awkwardly pointed out that he has “publicly stated my mom loved women.”  Additionally, he claimed “I have nothing against people who choose and [sic] alternative lifestyle.”  However, this is not 50 Cent’s first time making extremely homophobic comments.

In 2004 50 Cent explained to Playboy Magazine that “women who like women” are “cool” but, “I ain’t into fa–ots.” He continued by saying: “I don’t like gay people around me, because I’m not comfortable with what their thoughts are. I’m not prejudiced. I just don’t go with gay people and kick it — we don’t have that much in common. I’d rather hang out with a straight dude.”

In 2005 he infamously explained why rap and gay do not mix: “Being gay isn’t cool – it’s not what the music is based on. There’s always been conflict at the centre of hip-hop, because it’s all about which guy has the competitive edge, and you can’t be that aggressive if you’re gay.”

Additionally, GLAAD recently called for 50 Cent to retract an anti-gay tweet that he posted on 9/9/2010 which read: “Perez Hilton called me a douchebag so I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding. Wasn’t his but still made me feel better.” The tweet was eventually removed from the rapper’s Twitter account.

Ultimately, 50 Cent merely dismissed the anti-gay controversy and never explained why suicide made him “lol.”  Regardless, 50 Cent’s jovial promotion of suicide is unforgivable and his timing is disgusting. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, suicide was the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2007. 50 Cent has made a living spewing hate to exploited beats; however, his use of celebrity to trivialize suicide should not be tolerated.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Tyler Clementi’s family and friends.

The only person who needs to be more informed here is Mr. 50 Cent. Yes, I totally agree. There is every possibility that what has been construed as homophobic in his statements was unintentional on his part. The core of the problem here is, most likely, that 50 Cent is just really, really, REALLY stupid.

That’s still no excuse – and the excuses being made for him are wearing about as thin as his own past apologies and half-baked rationalizations for his other homophobic remarks. Based on his track record of anti-Gay slurs and the current LGBTQ youth suicides, he should have been a lot more sensitive and careful about what he said recently. Period!

50 Cent does not represent all other Black people. There are lots of other public figures who are not Rap performers or Black who have also been called out, as they should be, for making remarks that were also ill-timed or insulting (directly or indirectly) to LGBT people.

The smart ones apologized, and so should he. We all have to face the consequences of our actions. We all have to take responsibility for our mistakes.

Perhaps the question that should be asked here is why some people are so determined to convince us that LGBT people should steer clear of rocking the boat with a Black Rap performer? The suggestion being made seems to indicate that doing so would be potentially damaging to the popularity and acceptance of LGBT communities with the Black communities. This logic fails to recognize that many LGBT people and LGBTQ youth are also Black themselves. It also fails to acknowledge that no community should have to buy respect from any other. The dignity and rights of LGBT people should not be contingent upon who “likes” us as opposed to who hates us. This is about equal rights and respect. It is not a popularity contest.

I gotta be honest. I have times when I feel uneasy towards homosexuality. But even then 50cent was being a total jerk! that was mean. when I read his comments it made me realize that a lot of us are just so unfairly discriminating towards the gay community. when I look back i knew a lot of good people who just happened to be gay. I used to be prejudiced but after reading 50cents’ comments I want to work on stripping away the unneeded hate and I truly think that 50 should too.

  • Yari

Thats not funny 50 i hope your career goes more down the drain and you can burn in hell for all i care

  • Nancie

We are all allowed to have our own opinions. We shouldn’t be bashing the fact that he doesn’t like gay people… we should be bashing the fact that he published it. As a big idol to many people around the world, he should be careful about what he says in public, but whatever his thoughts or opinions are on anything is of no concern to anyone to try and change.

  • Terri

This is utterly repulsive. I don’t care for his music and I certainly don’t care what he thinks, but can’t believe he can shrug off the fact that in making this statement, he has blood on his hands. Shame on you.

As a lesbian, I find “Women who like women are cool but I aint in to faggots” extemely offensive – as much to lesbians as to gay men. A gay man and a gay woman are as equal to each other as we are to you.

My heart goes out to all gay men and women struggling against wave after wave of intolerant hate. May those who have died rest, finally, in peace.

I hate fags. Not gays, but fags like you idiots. Because he put up a joke you try to take it as serious as possible, all so pathetic. THIS is why I am starting to hate gays, because of you idiots.

  • don purple

I think he is gay and cannot deal with it hence all the hatred against gay people.
isn’t that usually the case about such intense haters…they hate what they are inside.
He is really a sad being.

I served my country for a long time, and yes I am gay! It is unfortunate that people are still so ignorant to REAL issues. It is also real unfortunate that I protected my country only to come home to BITCHES like 50, do not forget where you came from, or where you might be going.

  • Jace_here

I am all for extreme and degrading humor and making fun of stereotypes as humor. But when people actually feel bigotry and mask it behind humor as shown over time, kinda sickening. How is this witty/funny? Change the “don’t eat [girls]” to black. Still funny? Sure freedom to say what you want, but everyone has the freedom to be outraged by the ignorant (intentional or not) hate-mongering machismo.

  • Todd

This guy is a creep! His music is terrible and he looks like a moron.

I haven’t touched a bottle of Vitamin Water in over two months. If Vitamin Water lets a guy like this in their operation … I have no tolerance for their taste!

  • Daniel

haha gays are mentally ill, to go against what youre genes, chromosomes, and DNA say you are and say “i was born this way” is fuckinng retarded. You can buy yourself a different sex but millions of years when youre discuating self is found youre leftovers will always say you are the sex you were born.. fuck gays theyll never be equal to humans.. animals is what they are

Okie…after reading all of this, i have to say everyone has there own point of view of how things are seen, whether you are religious or not or whatever you are and your beliefs, everyone has a soul and has a purpose, people bulling just for the sake of feeling better about themselves because of transegenders, gays, lesbian, ect, it doesnt matter, it will make you feel worse for doing that… cant we all just love eachother for who and what we are and what we choose to be. We are all people of all differences, we are all people with telents, we are all people who can get away with things that others cant, but whats the point in hurting another because of they’re sexual life style, because of what they choose, you do know when you talk inappropriately about someone it really shows how imature you really are because of no respect torwards another…so if i were you id grow up and accept others for differences, choices and shut the heck up.

But wanna input that you have a very nice website , I love the style it actually stands out.

I have always felt that people who make homophobic comments are harboring some kind of self hatred, as if they have to go out of the way to prove they do not like the same sex themselves. Before I came out in high school it was a sure cover up for me to be a little anti gay….not to the point of gay bashing but I would never stand up and identify with the gay lifestyle even if it meant shunning, or talking about people who were gay. I blame it on my small town minded mentality, but when you are confident in your identity, there is no need to constantly make anti gay comments/lyrics

He has the right to have whatever opinion he wants. But I have the right not to buy his music that stems from ignorance. and I have the right not to buy from companies that sponsor him (Vitamin Water). Snapple! Here I come :)

  • Olson66james

If people actually stop to listen to 50 cent, side fom the explitives like ‘NIGGER’ 5000 FUCKING TIMES, BITCH, HO AND THEN BACK TO NIGGER, then where can he fit in an anti gay slur? I’m cornfused!

  • Geordiebb

Fuck gays hmmmm, how many have you fucked danny boy LOL

  • Malcolm X

He is a known “down-low brother.” These Black, closeted men always make these protestations. Nine shots wasn’t enough for him to learn some empathy + compassion? Heaven help this horrible creature when shot number ten comes his way (and it will).

  • Malcolm X

Where have some of you been? As long as this cretin has been in the public eye, he has bashed Gays. On the website “MediaTakeout,” “Supahead” claimed he is “on the downlow” along with several other queens of “rap.” Big names, too! When a queen protests this vehemently (and often), she has something to hide. Don’t forget to rap that willy, “fitty” (because you have an I.Q. that hovers around 80). Repulsive creature. I boycott his products, and people who like him and his products. *smile*

FagHater: you are reading Fenuxe for the articles, right? WRONG. You were stroking your cucumber and thinking about men – like you do every day. And guess what? We “hate” closet-cases like you! *smile*

  • Cdxsza

I think the same why dont we put gay people on the moon or something like greenland or somplace not bieng used so when somebody says” god bless america”we can actually be blessed because we have no gays still we have other problems but no gays anymore.

gay is against our religion we don’t do that sht..

  • Ahjii0187

Whatever happened to freedom of speach? A man should never apologize for speaking his mind, that is like apologizing for being who you are. Being sensitive to the truth is dilusional or simply denial at best. If you are gay don’t be mad because someone else does not agree with your lifestyle. Being offended by someones disapproval of it (your lifestyle) is simpy admitting your guilt about it. Psychologically speaking, when someone speaks the truth and you tell them to stop because it hurts your fealings, means your ego has been bruised by the facts.

  • Jj

lol he was referring to straight men such as himself, as in if you have sex with women but you don’t eat pussy because it’s not ‘cool’ kill yourself.

  • J D Haynes

If he really doesn’t believe he’s homophobic, then he probably also believes he isn’t black!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F4TYLMSLNSZCWZNMZITQUDZFC4 TheONE

Danny boy probably had a big one in his crap-shooter as he was typing this. The ones who spew out the most hate towards gays, are usually the closeted ones. Go have a _/ Danny boy!
