As the holiday season approaches many of us start to spend our weekends in hectic gift buying mode. The parking lot at Lenox Square becomes an obstacle course and the even the nicest guys turn a little vicious with door busting sales. Luckily, ARTvision (Artists Reaching Through) has a month-long online art show where you can shop for incredible pieces in the comfort of your browser. ARTvision is featuring the work of artists committed to advancing the work of Positive Impact, which provides culturally competent mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment and prevention services for the HIV affected in Atlanta for over 17 years.
The online art show culminates at the annual, invitation-only New Year’s Eve gala hosted by Will Pollock. ARTvision was started by Pollock as an online celebration of the arts, representing offerings from both emerging and established artists that create new funding and resources for Positive Impact.
For the first time in ARTvision’s five year history two pieces from the inspiring collection were sold prior to the launch of the online gallery. Available pieces include: “Blooming Coconut” an original photograph from international and Broadway recording star Julia Murney, “Waterdance” by choreographer and dancer Vibecke Dahle, and a truly unique found-item side table from returning artist Sean Mansfield aptly named “Rescued & Reclaimed.” Mansfield’s piece is the first offering of furniture in the ARTvision collection. The headline piece for ARTvision 2010 is “In the Moment” by Delia Cochran, offered at $1,900. Other notable pieces include “View from Piedmont Park”, a paint on canvas cityscape by returning artist Brenda McMillen. The most expensive piece is “Teal Treasure” by Pollock offered at $4,000.
To purchase one of the beautiful pieces from ARTvision visit their website www.artvisionatl.org or call Pollock at (404) 323-4100 to arrange a private viewing. A pre-gala purchasing event will be held on December 30 from 6pm until 9pm. Additional inquires may be made to Michael Baker, Director of Advancement at Positive Impact ([email protected] (404) 589-9040 ext. 115).
