Stop slamming your head against the cubicle wall! Your job sucks—if you have one—and you never get to bring your boyfriend to company functions because you can’t be “out” at work. So update your resume, dust off your business suit and prepare for the 12th Annual Diversity Employment Day Career Fair coming to Atlanta on Wednesday, June 13.
This particular career fair strives to offer recruiters access to a true variety of job candidates, including members of the LGBT community.
If you plan to seek new job opportunities, career fair representatives offer the following advice:
- Dress in business attire
- Bring plenty of resumes
- Preview the employers recruiting and their careers and jobs being sought.
- Prepare a 30-second presentation, which includes work history, qualifications, career and/or job position sought and why the employer should hire you
- When thanking the employer, ask for their business card and/or note their name, title and work location for a thank you follow-up after the career fair
- Smile because no one wants to hire someone who looks like they might go postal (Yes, they really said this!)
