As you all know Wicked is about to fly into the ATL for a month at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. What you probably don’t know is that on September 26th at 7:30PM some of the cast members will be hosting a cabaret event called “Our Wicked, Wicked Ways” as a benefit for Joining Hearts and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
The night is being produced by Kevin Ireland from the BestArts and Kevin Beebee, associate company manager for Wicked. The cabaret will feature members of Wicked cast including: Justin Brill (Boq), Mark Jacoby (the Wizard), Stefanie Brown (Nessarose) and Mariand Torres (Elphaba Standby) as well as other members of the ensemble and touring staff. The stars will put their best feet forward with a sampling of song, dance and comedy.
It is truly a must see event for people who live and love all things theater. The benefit is being held in the cozy confines of the 14th Street Playhouse which means all ticket holders will get an up-close and personal view of the show no matter where they sit. People wanting an even more personal look can upgrade their $35 general admission ticket to a $75 VIP ticket.
The VIP upgrade allows you access to a VIP pre-show reception with some of the cast members inlducing: Amanda Jane Cooper (Glinda), Dee Roscioli (Elphaba) and Colin Hanlon (Fiyero). You will also get a professional photo with the cast, your name listed on the BestArts website, free food, two drink tickets and of course premium seating.
All guests will also be able to bid on fabulous silent auction items throughout the night. All proceeds for the auction, as well as ticket sales, will go to Joining Hearts and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through the Joining Hearts website. But hurry because there are only 389 seats available and when they are gone they are gone.
For my pizza eating friends in the Vinings area – St Angelo’s Pizza is a must try. Located right on Atlanta road by West Village and 285. This fun, hopping place is a magnet in the area – folks flock here because of the great food and service. They offer excellent specials everyday of the week including 50% off wine bottle Sundays. They have live music on the weekends in their covered patio. If it’s too hot to go out they will deliver to the lucky folks in the neighborhood. They have a fantastic international beer selection, tasty wings and Italian style ice cream to satisfy all summer hunger pangs.
Next time you are out in the burbs slide in to the award winning St Angelo’s and enjoy an excellent pizza, calzone, NY style cheesecake or gelato. This is definitely where pizza and people come together!

When people think of Atlanta their mind instantly goes to rappers, crazy housewives and tasty southern fried food. Not many people equate the Atl with spicy Latina singers. All that may change when the city gets a load of EvaFe.
EvaFe was born in Chicago, but spent much of her childhood bouncing around places like Southern Texas, Mexico and even Minnesota before settling in Atlanta seven years ago to focus on her music career. She just dropped the video for her first single, “Oxygen”. If this video is any indication she is headed for a bright future.
The pop superstar-in-waiting dropped by the Fenuxe office for a quick meet and greet. Check out what she has to say below.
Fenuxe: How did you get started in music?
EvaFe: I started singing in church and got more involved in school. I did a lot of different musicals. I traveled for a whole year with a rock band during high school. I home schooled myself on the road. I got the whole experience of being on the road and, you know, your family and friends are far away, but I was like 16 and didn’t care. I was having the time of my life.
Fenuxe: When did you move to Atlanta?
EvaFe: When I first came down to Atlanta when I was like 17, 18 and without representation no one was really taking me seriously, it was kind of more like I can get you here baby, I can do this for you blah, blah, blah and then it was like, “So, what you doing later on tonight?” It was so discouraging that I stopped with music for 2 or 3 years. I stopped writing, I stopped practicing, I stopped everything.
Fenuxe: What got you back into your music?
EvaFe: I got into this salsa group to just fool around. And that is where I met my manager (Damon Redding at Fuego Music Group). I was performing at Havana, the old Havana, like in old Buckhead. He was like, “Are you serious about music, can you do it in English?” (laughs) And I am like well, duh.
Fenuxe: So what happened then?
EvaFe: We have been working on the album for about a year and a half. And here we are with a smashing hit single (“Oxygen”) and I have about five different remixes of it. It kind of engages in all every different scene of the world. The focus right now is this house music and I have so been engulfed in it and I love it.
Fenuxe: You just shot your first video? How did that go?
EvaFe: I was very surprised to see it, but it looks like very legit like big money was behind like a big record label was behind it, but it was just me and my little small label. I have a great team. I would not be anywhere without my team. They are like a family.
Fenuxe: Are you working on a full length album?
EvaFe: We have a whole album. We’re just keeping it like best kept secret. We are trying to create more of a buzz. We’re going to do single by single.
Fenuxe: Do you write your own stuff?
EvaFe: I do.
Fenuxe: Music and lyrics or just lyrics?
EvaFe: Just lyrics. I do a lot of co-writing. I learned that it is okay to learn from other writers. They have been in it longer than I have. They have different experiences in so many different genres. I have been very open to co-writing. At first it was like, no this is my music. I wanted people to think that I was a real artist. I want to have my say in it. I have been writing songs since I was 14.
Fenuxe: How has the music been received in Atlanta?
EvaFe: The response has in Atlanta has been really, really great. We held a DJ social and they loved it. They have been playing it where ever they are at from Opera to Tongue and Groove, which is great. Atlanta has been great!
Fenuxe: What music inspires you?
EvaFe: As a kid growing up in Texas it is was Selena. She was a TexMex girl. Then it was Gloria Estefan. Later on Mariah Carey was like my idol, old Mariah Carey like when she did Music Box and stuff like that. Those are the songs that I practiced by myself in front of the mirror.
Fenuxe: Do you sing ballads too?
EvaFe: I love ballads. If they could make a million dollars I would sing ballads all day long.
Fenuxe: Who do you listen to now?
EvaFe: Of course Lady Gaga because she has made a change and made a difference. Also Shakira because she too has made a change made a difference not only in pop music, but also in Latin Pop music. I started listening to her when she had long black hair and was rocking out on the guitar. I love that she has evolved pop music in general and put a real international feel to it.
Enjoy EvaFe’s first music video below and then take a trip to EvaFe.com and check out more about the rising star.

A favorite place to go in Atlanta when the need for good Italian food and escapism are on the agenda at the lovely “Il Localino”.
Il Localino makes me smile every time I think about it. It is a cozy, warm, romantic experience. It will take you back to the 60’s & 70’s in NYC. The live music is nostalgic and the décor is like time stood still in little Italy circa 1972. The ambience will trick you in to thinking Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra & Sofia Loren will be joining the fun at any moment. You get to wear funny hats if you feel like it and the staff will treat you like royalty, Sinatra royalty that is.
They won the “Diners Choice Award” 2011. I’m giving them three Fenuxe stars to add to their many accolades. My dear, sweet Gale Parker has succeeded where many have failed; her restaurant lavishes over their guests and delivers at customer service. You may friend “Il Localino” on Facebook and I guarantee Ms Gale will never miss a birthday greeting or loving kind word to cheer you up. This attention to detail and sincere caring nature transcends to the dining experience and I love it!
My favorite dish is the Zuppa di Pesce in Bianco – AioJi with Fresh Herbs and Spices- Clams, Mussels, Shrimps, Scallops, Calamari, Grouper and Salmon – served on top of Linguini.
Time to ask that special someone out on date and let Il Localino provide a romantic setting to your special evening.
